If it is really dirty, I would not get a chance wet straw. I ran some water in the sink and add one capful of ammonia. Sponge it very gently on the part of the fabric hat. Red dyes are known for racing if you do not want the red straw that runs on the white cloth part, so be careful. Gently sponge the clear water to rinse and let air dry.
